Tip of the week: adventure tourism in Tijuca National Park

Today’s tip is for those who love extreme sports and plenty of adventure! Did you know it’s possible to go hang gliding in Tijuca National Park? All you need is to hike a roughly 20-minute trail to the top of Pedra Bonita. At an incredible 517 meters high are some of the most sought-after free-flight ramps in the world! The reason? The stunning view of Rio de Janeiro, of course! There are two ramps, one for hang gliding and the other for paragliding takeoffs, where you can take instructional flights with trained, certified professionals.
If climbing is more your thing, you can also find great spots to give you the challenge you’re looking for. Notable are the walls of Pedra da Gávea, which demand a bit more experience (and courage) from climbers, and the walls of Agulhinha da Gávea — also known as Pedra Aguda — which have a lower difficulty level and are ideal for those wanting to try climbing for the first time.
